Meet Dan
Dan Pelchat is a lifelong resident of what is now Michigan House of Representatives District 49, a former mayor of South Lyon, a public school technology professional, and a proud father of two. Dan has spent his life working in and serving the community he calls home.
From 2017 to 2023, Dan served as Mayor of South Lyon in a non-partisan role. During his time as mayor, he focused on practical solutions that improved the lives of residents and strengthened the community.
His work included:
- Helping pass an $18.4 million bond to repair aging roads and infrastructure
- Working with veteran groups such as the Veterans of Foreign Wars to relocate and expand the city’s veterans memorial
- Supporting the creation of South Lyon’s downtown social district, helping local small businesses thrive
Dan believes local leadership should be about bringing people together to solve problems.
Dan’s values come from his family and community.
- Son of a United Auto Workers family
- Husband to Meredith, a public school teacher and Michigan Education Association member
- Father of two young children, Laney and Henry
For more than 25 years, Dan has worked in the technology department for South Lyon Community Schools, helping ensure that teachers and students have the tools they need to succeed.
As a parent raising young children while supporting aging parents, Dan understands the challenges facing Michigan families today.
